Actually, Abbott has probably pulled back from Henry's income tax proposal


This was him back on August 3:

"Ken Henry was given a lot of time and a lot of resources to provide the most comprehensive account that he could of tax reform and where it might go in this country. The Government in effect, has only acted on one recommendation out of 138... I’ve said it before let me say it again, I think that the Henry recommendations for lower personal tax are worth further study. I think that the Henry recommendations for better integration of the tax system with the transfer system are worth further study and I’ll have more to say about this in future days."

It's look like yesterday's policy launch was those "future days".

He decided to squib it, to not take the risk of giving people something to vote for.
