Yes, bike racks.
With bikes, $2.50 for a day:
Your drop them back at any rack you like when you are finished.
But you have to come prepared with a helmet, which makes it difficult.
Gee I like Melbourne.

Some of them have cheap (disposable?) helmet dispensers nearby …
You've been misled about the price. $2.50 is the minimum daily charge for upto 30min of use. The actual rate is $10/hr. See: http://www.melbournebikeshare.com.au/pricing
Oh.
Yeah, they almost got it right, unfortunately they couldnt copy the french model exactly with the need for helmets... Silly helmets!!
How much CO2 was reduced by these bikes compared with the 50% increase in global coal consumption trumpeted by Glenn Stevens yesterday?
Yay Australia! World's biggest coal exporter. Look at our terms-of-trade! Look at our dollar! Look how rich we're getting!
Carbon emissions? Look at the two dozen bikes in Melbourne.
The hypocrisy is breathtaking.
City bike schemes are a great way to decrease the number of cars on the road, encourage people to cycle in other parts of their life, and to promote good health. Adelaide's city bike scheme is free and very well utilised. http://www.bikesa.asn.au/servlet/Web?s=2060570&action=changePage&pageID=530953101
We have these in Brisbane too...also without helmets.
